Plans are now underway for 2012 Carnival. The date is set for Saturday 14th July and the theme is OLYMPICS 2012.

The site is now full to bust with stalls, so I'm afraid if you haven't received your confirmation letter yet it's to late!

Everything is coming together now with just under 4 weeks to go. Programmes will be on sale from 27 June with door to door sale and at Budgens on 1st, 2nd,3rd and 8th July. So get yours early for priority entry on the day for just £2.50 per adult (accompanied children under 16 are free).

Confirmed acts at the Carnival this year are... The Ambassadors Marching Band, Oakden School of Dance, Melbourne Town Band, Melbourne Infant and Junior Schools and The Pet Shop Boys(a tribute).
Also to keep you entertained the fiercely contested Tug of war. Will the British Legion keep hold of their title?!

- Miss Melbourne Contest sponsored by Davidsons will be held on Friday May 13th this year in the Royal Suite, Royal British Legion. Doors open 6.30pm for 7pm start and there will be a £1 entry fee.
Miss Melbourne will be picked from school years 7 and above, attendants from Reception year and above. All applicants must live in the parish of Melbourne, attend Chellaston or Melbourne schools and be available on Carnival Day, Saturday 9th July.
- Last few advertising spaces left in the carnival programe. Full A5 page ad £50, half A5 page ad £30, full inside cover page in colour £80. Deadline is May 20th.

- The theme this year is "as seen on screen" so think anything Tv, Film or even Video games.
-The date is now confirmed as Saturday 9th July as always on the school playing fields on Packhorse Rd.
- Norman & Rosemary Jackson from Doves Garage will be our honoured guests to officially open the day.

11Jul10 - What a fantastic day yesterday was!
Everyone we've spoken to says it was a cracking day and we'd be inclined to agree. Even the sun turned up with a vengance!
Thank you to everyone for your support. It'd be rubbish without you.

09Jul10 - Tomorrow's the big day everyone!
Procession starts at Castle Square at 1230 and reaches the school at 1330.
Don't forget your sunscreen... It's looking like it's going to be a warm one!

06Jul10 - Programs are currently available from Melbourne News, Alma Inn, door to door sales and outside Budgens on Friday afternoon.
Each gives you entry to the Carnival, and will of course be available on the gate on Saturday.

02Jul10 - The float procession will this year be leaving from Castle Square.
Will start at 1230 and will get to the school on Packhorse Road at 1330. Spare a thought for all the walking floats :-)

And remember, it doesn't have to be a truck pulling a trailer. Walking floats are also welcome... Even horses :-)

25May10 - A brilliant night was had by all at the Miss Melbourne 2010 event at the Royal British Legion on Friday.
Apart from the disco there was of course the choosing of Miss Melbourne and her 6 attendants.
Chosen this year to wear the crown was Fiona Smith. A loud well done to you.
Her six attendants are as follows: Liberty Toon, Anna Holling, Abi Straton, Bethan Smith, Sophie Harvey and Eleanor Gardner.
Well done to all of you, and we can't wait to see you on what will be a sunny carnival day.
